Microsoft Expands Copilot AI Assistant to Support Team Collaboration
Microsoft has announced an upgrade to its AI assistant, Copilot, enabling it to support entire teams, rather than just individual users. The enhancement, named Team Copilot, was unveiled during the company’s Build developer conference and is set to roll out later this year.
Key features of Team Copilot include managing meeting agendas, taking notes, tracking deadlines, and participating in group chats by flagging key information. It will also function as a project manager by assigning tasks and tracking progress.
Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for AI, emphasized the AI’s compatibility with other Microsoft apps such as Teams, Loop, and Planner. This expansion aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate AI more deeply into its services, aiming to enhance productivity and collaboration within organizations.
Additionally, Microsoft revealed new tools for creating custom AI assistants, known as AI agents, which can perform specific business tasks without waiting for human instructions. These updates are part of Microsoft’s competition with companies like Google, which also recently announced new AI capabilities for its products.
