Bloomreach, a leading ecommerce platform provider, has unveiled new AI-powered features to improve personalisation in product recommendations. These updates, including visual recommendations and algorithm enhancements, aim to enhance the online shopping experience and provide valuable insights for businesses.

New Levels of Personalisation for Ecommerce Product Recommendations Introduced by Bloomreach

April 25, 2024 – MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Ecommerce platform provider Bloomreach has announced the launch of new AI-powered features aimed at enhancing personalisation in ecommerce product recommendations. These updates are part of the Bloomreach Discovery suite and include visual recommendations, updated algorithms, and a redesigned performance dashboard. The enhancements are designed to optimise the online shopping experience, potentially increasing conversions and providing better analytical insights for businesses.

Overview of New Features

The launch includes several key features:

Visual Recommendations: This feature allows shoppers to click on various products within an image and receive recommendations for visually similar items. This approach attempts to replicate an in-person shopping experience, where customers might choose items based on visual appeal rather than text descriptions. This feature aims to improve customer engagement and conversion rates.

“More Like This” Algorithm Update: The algorithm has been upgraded to deliver more precise product recommendations in multiple languages, including English, French, and German. This enhancement is intended to cater to a more diverse customer base and expand purchase opportunities by offering highly personalised product suggestions.

“Frequently Bought Together” Algorithm Update: This algorithm now incorporates data from the shopper’s basket and browsing session to provide more accurate recommendations. It aims to determine logical pairings, suggesting items like a screen guard after a phone is added to the cart, while avoiding irrelevant suggestions.

Enhanced Analytics Dashboard: The updated dashboard consolidates data on product recommendations and performance metrics into one interface. This feature is expected to help businesses better understand customer behaviour and the effectiveness of their merchandising strategies.

Context and Implications

Bloomreach’s enhancements come at a time when personalisation in ecommerce is increasingly critical. As consumers become more accustomed to tailored shopping experiences, ecommerce platforms are under pressure to provide more intuitive and relevant product recommendations. According to industry studies, personalised shopping experiences can lead to higher customer satisfaction and increased sales.

Pratik Patel, Director of Product Management for AI and Search Recommendations at Bloomreach, expressed optimism about the new features. “With over 15 years of leadership in product discovery, we’re eager to witness the ongoing evolution of our product recommendation capabilities and how they empower our customers to achieve superior business results,” Patel stated.
