DuckDuckGo has launched a new AI Chat feature that allows users to interact with leading chatbots while ensuring privacy and anonymity. By supporting various advanced AI models and implementing strict privacy measures, the service aims to offer a secure and seamless chatting experience for users.
DuckDuckGo has introduced an AI Chat feature that enables users to interact with popular chatbots, ensuring privacy and anonymity. The service supports OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 Turbo, Anthropic’s Claude 3 Haiku, Meta’s Llama 3, and Mistral’s Mixtral 8x7B. Access is available via duck.ai, duckduckgo.com/chat, or through shortcuts like “!ai” and “!chat.”
The company guarantees that user queries will not be used to train large language models or be traced back to individual users. Chats are anonymized, metadata is stripped, and IP addresses are replaced with DuckDuckGo’s own to ensure privacy. Though chat logs may be temporarily stored, they are deleted within 30 days per agreements with AI providers.
DuckDuckGo’s move aligns with its commitment to user privacy, building on its previous releases like DuckAssist, which provides AI-generated instant answers. The AI Chat feature is free with a daily usage limit, and the company is considering a paid plan for extended access and additional features.
