Buzz Solutions, an AI company specialising in visual intelligence for energy infrastructure, has joined Esri’s Partner Network (EPN) Silver program to enhance utility infrastructure resilience. By integrating PowerAI with Esri’s ArcGIS software, the partnership aims to provide utility firms with advanced geographic information system capabilities to identify and address grid anomalies efficiently.

Buzz Solutions Joins Esri Partner Network Silver Program

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 10, 2024 — Buzz Solutions, an artificial intelligence (AI) company specialising in visual intelligence for energy infrastructure, has officially joined the Esri Partner Network (EPN) Silver program. This partnership aims to bolster the resilience and reliability of utility infrastructures through enhanced geographic information system (GIS) capabilities.

Esri, the leading global provider of GIS software, location intelligence, and mapping technology, offers the ArcGIS software, which is extensively utilised across various sectors. Buzz Solutions plans to leverage Esri’s technology to improve its AI-driven analytics, particularly for utility companies managing extensive infrastructure networks.

Enhanced Capabilities for Utility Firms

Buzz Solutions integrates its PowerAI solution with Esri’s ArcGIS software, providing utility firms with sophisticated, interactive maps. These maps incorporate ArcGIS Basemaps alongside proprietary infrastructure data from the utilities. This layered geographical information helps identify grid anomalies more effectively, enabling quicker and more informed responses to potential issues.

“The health of our utility infrastructure varies widely and often depends on regional environmental factors.”

Vikhyat Chaudhry, Buzz Solutions CTO, COO, and co-founder, underscores the importance of regional environmental factors in utility management. He notes that wildfires, hurricanes, and extreme winter conditions present unique challenges across different parts of the United States. By joining the Esri Partner Network, Buzz Solutions can offer clients additional geographic context, aiding in faster and more accurate decision-making.

Esri’s Perspective

Matt Piper, Global Director Industry Solutions: Utilities, Telecom, Water, AEC at Esri, expressed optimism about the partnership. Piper highlighted the shared vision between Esri and Buzz Solutions for building a sustainable future. “GIS and AI technologies can help to build a more sustainable world, and this is a vision that we share with Buzz Solutions,” Piper stated. He emphasised that innovative solutions like those of Buzz Solutions are crucial for modernising and maintaining utility infrastructures.

Implications for Energy Infrastructure

The partnership aims to improve the detection and analysis of physical infrastructure anomalies, which, if unattended, can severely threaten grid stability. By combining AI and GIS data, both companies seek to offer a comprehensive view of the utility system’s health, pinpointing areas requiring attention.

Several major utilities in North America, including the New York Power Authority and Southern California Edison, already use Buzz Solutions’ technology. The current collaboration with Esri marks a significant step towards enhancing the inspection and maintenance processes of these and other potential clients.

About Buzz Solutions

Founded in Palo Alto, California, Buzz Solutions focuses on predictive analytics for visual infrastructure inspections. The company aims to help field teams prioritise and conduct maintenance more efficiently, thereby reducing the risks of wildfires, forced shutdowns, and power outages.

About Esri

Established in 1969 and headquartered in Redlands, California, Esri has been a pioneer in GIS technology. Its software is employed globally by organisations across various industries, including government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and academic institutions. With a vast network of regional offices and international distributors, Esri continues to be a significant player in the field of geospatial analytics.

Both organisations are optimistic about the outcomes of this partnership, anticipating that the integration of their technologies will deliver more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructures.
