ProDoc, a health-tech startup, is offering free test kits for home use to help individuals aged 40-74 in the UK assess their heart health. With rising heart disease cases, these kits provide quick access to cholesterol levels, BMI calculation, and heart age estimation.

In the UK, individuals aged 40 to 74 who are not currently on statins or blood pressure medication can now obtain free test kits from the health-tech startup ProDoc. These kits, intended for home use, allow users to check their cholesterol levels, calculate their body mass index (BMI), and estimate their heart age. Results are available within nine minutes, and follow-up treatment options are provided if needed.

Heart disease has seen a significant increase, with statistics from the British Heart Foundation indicating that 39,000 people under the age of 75 in England died from heart conditions in 2022. This figure represents the highest total since 2008, averaging more than 750 deaths per week. Globally, cardiovascular diseases account for 32% of all deaths, equivalent to 56,000 deaths per day, with heart attacks and strokes making up 85% of these fatalities.

Medical experts attribute the rise in heart disease cases to delays in diagnosis. The new test kits from ProDoc aim to address this issue by making them available through the NHS and local pharmacies.

Common symptoms of heart disease include chest pain or discomfort, nausea, indigestion, pain spreading to the arm, dizziness, and extreme exhaustion. Recognizing these symptoms early can be crucial for timely medical intervention.
