DFI unveils its latest EC5 series of embedded systems, featuring advanced technology to boost industrial automation processes. With a focus on performance, connectivity, and durability, these systems promise to meet the evolving needs of modern industries and contribute to the trend of increasing automation.

DFI Unveils New Embedded Systems for Industrial Automation

Taipei, 26 June 2024 – DFI, a key player in the embedded motherboards and industrial computers sector, has introduced its latest embedded systems under the EC5 series. This new range, including models such as the EC543-ADS, EC510-ADS, EC511-ADS, and EC500-ADS, is aimed at advancing industrial automation, offering enhanced flexibility and robust performance across various corporate and industry applications.

According to industry insights from Emergen Research, the global embedded systems market is projected to attain $169.4 billion by 2032. This growth is driven by increasing adoption of AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) devices and automation in sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. Embedded systems integrated with machine learning algorithms are pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and reducing the risk of equipment failures. These systems ensure seamless and efficient operation of interconnected applications.

The EC5 series is anchored by the 12th generation Intel® Core™ processors, featuring a performance hybrid architecture designed to handle multiple tasks efficiently, notably in edge computing environments. These systems support fast data transmission with up to 64GB of DDR4 SODIMM memory, aimed at fulfilling the requirements of demanding industrial applications.

One of the significant features of the EC5 series is its capability to support three independent displays. This is crucial for process monitoring, data visualisation, and displaying essential information in industrial settings. Additionally, the series incorporates M.2-powered 5G communication, ensuring low latency connectivity, an essential attribute for modern industrial environments.

DFI’s emphasis on durability is evident in the rigorous testing these systems undergo. They are subjected to IEC 68-2-64 vibration testing and shock testing with a half sine wave 3G across all axes to ensure resilience in challenging conditions. This makes the EC5 series suitable for deployment in the harshest industrial environments, promising unwavering stability and reliable performance.

Each model in the EC5 series provides expansive connectivity options with one PCIe x 16 slot (Gen 3) for graphics and three M.2 slots. These features enhance the systems’ expansibility and interconnectivity. Specifically, the EC510-ADS, EC511-ADS, and EC543-ADS models come equipped with four PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports. This inclusion simplifies the deployment of IP cameras and data acquisition devices, streamlining connectivity requirements in industrial setups.

The technical specifications of the EC5 series include:
– Options with 12th Generation Intel® Core™ processors.
– Up to 64GB of DDR4 system memory.
– Support for multiple displays (three independent displays) and 5G communication capabilities.
– A fanless design with a wide input voltage range from 9V to 36V.
– A wide operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C, model-dependent.
– One PCIe x 16 slot (Gen 3) and three M.2 slots.
– Four PoE ports (available on select models).

These embedded systems are designed to cater to a wide range of applications, providing the necessary technological advancements to enhance industrial automation processes. DFI continues to push the boundaries of innovation in industrial embedded systems, contributing to the broader trend of increasing automation and smarter industrial solutions.

The introduction of the EC5 series is a notable advancement in the embedded systems market, presenting solutions that promise to meet the evolving needs of modern industries. This development aligns with the market’s growing trajectory, driven by technological integration in industrial processes.
