ADIB has achieved a new digital milestone with over one million registered users on its mobile app, showcasing a 100% increase from the previous year. The bank introduces innovative features like Emirates Facial Recognition and Optical Character Recognition, along with a Ghina Savings Account offering monthly prizes. ADIB aims to transform banking by prioritising innovation and user experience.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has reached a new digital milestone by surpassing one million registered users on its mobile app, a 100% increase from 500,000 users in 2021. The bank has seen a significant rise in new customers using the mobile application, with 80% of its client base now actively engaging with ADIB’s digital services.

In response to increased demand, ADIB has launched an enhanced account opening process that leverages Emirates Facial Recognition (EFR) and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. New customers can now open an account instantly by scanning their Emirates ID, providing personal details, and taking a selfie. Once the account is set up, customers receive a digital personalized debit card accessible immediately via their mobile wallet.

Over the past year, ADIB has added 54 new features to the mobile app to cater to evolving customer needs. These include IPO subscriptions, push notifications, enhanced consumer protection measures, and robust transaction security protocols.

Fernando Plaza Lopez, ADIB’s Chief Digital Officer, stated, “Reaching 1 million mobile app users is a significant achievement, and ADIB remains committed to continuous improvement. By prioritizing innovation and user experience, we strive to make banking seamless and accessible for all our clients.”

ADIB also introduced the Ghina Savings Account, which offers customers a chance to win one million dirhams monthly along with 45 other cash prizes. The bank employs AI technology in its mobile app to offer personalized banking experiences, including customized lifestyle offers through SmartDeals. The app has been upgraded for better layout, intuitive navigation, user-friendly journeys, and enhanced security features, providing more than 150 services.

ADIB has also pioneered remote account opening for SMEs in the UAE through its mobile app, streamlining the process and removing the need for physical branch visits and documentation.
