Steve Endacott introduces AI Steve, an AI-generated parliamentary candidate, in an attempt to revolutionise political engagement and policy-making. AI Steve will stand in the general election in Brighton, offering innovative solutions to constituents’ concerns.
Steve Endacott is pioneering a novel approach to politics by introducing AI Steve, the first fully Artificial Intelligence-generated parliamentary candidate. AI Steve will contest the general election in Brighton on July 4, 2024. This initiative is designed to enhance democratic engagement by leveraging AI to directly reflect constituent concerns in policy-making.
Endacott, a semi-retired investor, describes himself as a “capitalist with a socialist conscience” and aims to physically attend Parliament while being guided by AI Steve on policy matters. Endacott’s AI, developed by a team at Neural Voice, communicates with constituents using his voice and an avatar.
Dissatisfied with traditional political dynamics, Endacott formed the party “Smarter UK,” although due to a registration hiccup, he will stand as an Independent. AI Steve’s platform includes a four-day workweek, increasing prison capacity, and other local policies in Brighton.
The AI records all queries from the public and policy proposals are evaluated by local volunteers. Endacott asserts this method redefines democracy by directly connecting voters with their representatives, aiming for transparency and accountability in political decisions.
