Apple Inc. declines Meta Platforms Inc.’s proposal to integrate its AI chatbot technology into Apple smartphones, opting for generative AI features on upcoming models. No confirmed partnership exists as of now.
Apple Inc. (AAPL) has reportedly declined Meta Platforms Inc.’s (META) proposal to integrate its AI chatbot technology into Apple smartphones. As per a Bloomberg report, the tech giant rejected the offer several months ago. Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the companies have not revisited discussions regarding an AI partnership since March 2023.
This decision comes as Apple revealed plans to incorporate generative AI features into its upcoming smartphone models, specifically targeting the iPhone 15 and subsequent versions. The announcement was made during Apple’s WWDC event, highlighting the company’s strategic direction for future smartphone operating systems.
Despite the apparent missed opportunity for Meta to leverage Apple’s extensive user base, there remains speculation about potential collaborations in the future. However, as of now, no confirmed partnership between the two companies on AI integration exists.
