Relationship expert Paul C Brunson reveals that AI has the potential to reduce household arguments by up to one-third, as shown in a study involving 2,000 people. The study, commissioned for Samsung UK’s campaign, highlights common sources of family tensions and the benefits of using AI-enabled products for household tasks.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to reduce household arguments by up to one-third, according to relationship expert Paul C Brunson. This insight follows a study involving 2,000 people living with others, revealing that on average, individuals experience two disagreements daily, each lasting around three minutes. This amounts to 45 minutes weekly or 39 hours annually.

The study was commissioned for Samsung UK’s campaign, “You and AI. As One,” which promotes AI-enabled products designed to help with household chores and conflicts. Common sources of family tension include not turning off lights (28%), neglecting chores (24%), and leaving items on the floor (23%). Despite these issues, only 8% reported using AI for household tasks.

Technological solutions believed to reduce tensions include lights that switch off automatically (19%), devices controlling energy usage (17%), and refrigerators alerting users to expiring food (15%). Brunson emphasized the importance of employing AI to foster harmonious family environments, suggesting it can save time and reduce household stress.

Deborah Honig from Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland highlighted that AI-powered products aim to simplify family life by handling chores like vacuuming, thereby easing the pace of modern living. According to the poll, 87% of respondents viewed their quarrels as trivial, and 65% considered occasional arguments necessary to clear the air.
