The 70th Bilderberg meeting is currently underway in Madrid, Spain, bringing together influential global leaders to discuss key world issues. The event, known for its secrecy, is focusing on topics such as the “future of warfare,” artificial intelligence, and global security threats including Russia, China, and climate change. High-profile attendees include the King of the Netherlands, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, the CEO of Pfizer, and AI experts from Google DeepMind, Microsoft AI, and Anthropic.

Security at the event is exceptionally tight, highlighted by police drones and significant law enforcement presence. This year’s agenda reflects heightened global tensions, with discussions on Ukraine suggesting concerns about a broader conflict. The conference also features senior U.S. national security officials and military leaders, emphasizing the intersection of technology and warfare.

Notable figures such as Alex Karp of Palantir and venture capitalist Peter Thiel are participating, while Henry Kissinger, a longtime participant, is notably absent due to his passing in November 2023. The event sees significant involvement from the finance sector, with major banks represented, underscoring Bilderberg’s influence on global economic strategies. Next year’s meeting is anticipated to be hosted by Marcus Wallenberg, chairman of defense company Saab, in Sweden.
