ChatGPT is being utilised by online daters to check the height of potential matches, helping to mitigate the common issue of profile exaggeration.

ChatGPT: A New Tool for Verifying Heights in Online Dating

In the increasingly digital landscape of modern dating, a unique use of artificial intelligence has emerged. ChatGPT, an AI chatbot already known for its diverse capabilities such as drafting essays, composing jokes, and writing best man speeches, is now being employed to verify the height of potential dates on online dating platforms.

Women, particularly, have started using ChatGPT to determine if men on dating apps are truthful about their height. By taking screenshots of dating profiles and uploading them to ChatGPT, users can request an estimate of the person’s height. Justine Moore, a venture capitalist from San Francisco, vouched for the AI’s accuracy, claiming it could estimate heights within an inch for both men and women.

In a tweet, Moore explained how the trick works: “Girls are using ChatGPT to see if men are lying about their height on dating apps. Upload four pictures, it uses proportions and surroundings to estimate height. I tested it on 10 friends and family members – all estimates were within 1 inch of their real height.”

The process is simple. Users need to upload multiple photos of their match from any dating app, such as Tinder, Bumble, Badoo, or OKCupid, and ask ChatGPT, “How tall would you estimate this person is?” The AI then uses visual clues from the images, including body proportions and background objects, to make its calculation. If an estimate cannot be provided from a single image, ChatGPT may request additional photos to improve accuracy.

One individual tested the method by submitting two full-body photos to ChatGPT. Initially hesitant with just one image, the AI estimated the person to be “around 6 feet” based on the second submission, which was reasonably close to the actual height of 6 feet 2 inches. However, it was noted that ChatGPT’s accuracy might be lower if most of the person’s body isn’t visible or if there are no recognizable objects for scale in the background.

This innovation comes in response to a prevalent issue on dating apps where men often exaggerate their height to seem more desirable. Analysis by dating app OKCupid suggests that inflating one’s height in profiles has become increasingly common. Some individuals might try to obscure their true height by opting for photos that don’t clearly show their stature, like sitting down shots or images taken from angles designed to enhance their height artificially.

The preference for taller men is backed by scientific studies suggesting that women might perceive taller men as more capable of providing protection and producing healthy offspring. This has driven some users to go to great lengths to appear taller in their online dating profiles.

For those keen to maintain transparency in their online dating adventures, ChatGPT’s new role as a digital height verifier could be a valuable asset. The AI’s potential to offer a reality check might make navigating the world of digital romance a little clearer, helping users verify whether their potential matches are portraying themselves truthfully.

In summary, as more people turn to artificial intelligence to navigate the complexities of online dating, tools like ChatGPT are providing innovative solutions to ensure accuracy and honesty, fostering more genuine interactions in the virtual dating sphere.
