The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) partners with Bosch to create an Industry 4.0 pilot factory in the Philippines, integrating artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to drive sustainable growth and workforce upskilling.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and global manufacturing leader Bosch are collaborating on the development of a manufacturing pilot factory incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies. A memorandum of understanding formalizing this partnership was signed on June 7 in Singapore.

This initiative aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices to transform the Philippine manufacturing sector. Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual stated that the pilot factory, described as a state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 facility, would function as an experiential learning laboratory featuring automation technologies powered by Bosch and other partners.

The factory will integrate real-world manufacturing environment simulations and cover topics such as the internet of things, AI, and digital manufacturing. This project is part of DTI’s broader strategy that includes widespread Industry 4.0 technology adoption and continuous workforce upskilling.

Bosch’s regional president in Southeast Asia, Vijay Ratnaparkhe, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing its potential to boost the Philippines’ industrial capabilities and readiness for advanced technologies, promoting sustainable growth and industrial resilience.

Additionally, Pascual mentioned plans for establishing the Philippines Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and setting up a national innovation gateway, aiming to foster collaboration and drive innovation across industry, academia, startups, and government sectors.
