The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with Bosch will build a cutting-edge manufacturing pilot factory in the Philippines, integrating AI, IoT, and automation technologies. The initiative is part of DTI’s industrialization strategy to drive economic growth and skills development.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Bosch have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the development of an advanced manufacturing pilot factory in the Philippines. This agreement was formalized on June 7 during a meeting in Singapore. This collaboration aims to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), and other cutting-edge technologies to modernize the Philippine manufacturing sector.

Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual described the planned facility as an “experiential learning laboratory” featuring state-of-the-art industry standards and automation technologies. The project is positioned as part of DTI’s broader industrialization strategy, which focuses on adopting Industry 4.0 technologies and enhancing the skills of the Filipino workforce.

Bosch’s Southeast Asia regional president, Vijay Ratnaparkhe, emphasized the partnership’s goal of bolstering the Philippines’ industrial capabilities and fostering sustainable economic growth. Additionally, Pascual mentioned future plans for the Philippines Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and a national innovation gateway, aimed at fostering collaboration among industry, academia, startups, and the government.
