A recent study by Freshworks, surveying over 7,000 senior decision-makers and managers across 12 countries, has underscored the significant effect of artificial intelligence (AI) regulation on UK businesses. The research reveals that 65% of UK business leaders trust AI to enhance their operations, yet 35% identify unclear regulations as a primary obstacle to broader AI adoption.

AI tools offer notable time-saving benefits, with the average leader saving over three hours weekly and 11% saving more than nine hours. Despite these advantages, 37% of UK leaders are hesitant to integrate AI, primarily due to regulatory uncertainties. Compared to their global counterparts, British leaders exhibit greater concern over this issue.

Additionally, nearly half (46%) of respondents fear AI could replace jobs within their sectors. However, trust in AI increases if human review of outputs is mandatory, according to 70% of respondents. Common uses for AI include content creation (43%), data analysis (39%), and brainstorming (35%).

Freshworks CPO Prakash Ramamurthy highlighted AI’s role in boosting productivity, stating the technology is delivering on its promise by freeing employees for higher-level tasks and demonstrating compelling returns.
