The multi-year technology partnership between Google Cloud and Formula E aims to enhance on-and off-track performance, with initiatives focusing on sporting development, fanbase growth, and sustainability leadership.
Google Cloud has entered into a multi-year technology partnership with Formula E, aiming to enhance both on-and off-track performance in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Initiated in collaboration last summer, the partnership gained prominence when NEOM McLaren Formula E Team driver, Jake Hughes, set a new indoor land speed Guinness World Record of 218.7 km/h. This accomplishment was aided by a Google Cloud-developed generative AI tool named ‘DriverBot,’ which utilized real-time and historical race data to optimize performance.
The collaboration will focus on three main areas:
- Sporting Development: Utilizing Google Cloud’s advanced data analytics and generative AI in the GENBETA Programme to drive innovation in race car development.
- Fanbase Growth: Leveraging Google Cloud’s data processing tools to analyze fan behavior and demographics, thereby enabling tailored marketing campaigns.
- Sustainability Leadership: Expanding the reach of Formula E’s Girls on Track Programme, which creates opportunities for young women to enter motorsport.
These initiatives aim to leverage Google Cloud’s technological capabilities to benefit Formula E’s competitive racing, fan engagement, and sustainability efforts.
