Digital Government Transformation: Key Developments and Global Impact

Governments worldwide are increasingly adopting digital and intelligent transformation initiatives to enhance their public services. In Shenzhen, China, the time required for new enterprise registration and approval is now less than one minute, thanks to advancements in digital infrastructure facilitated by Huawei. The city has migrated over 230 core services from 53 government departments to the cloud.

At the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Huawei introduced several initiatives, including the Public Services Intelligent Transformation White Paper and solutions for national cloud infrastructure, smart classrooms, medical technology, and tax administration. Huawei’s CEO of Global Public Sector BU, Wind Li, emphasized the company’s commitment to the ‘One Cloud + One Network’ strategy, which aims to significantly enhance government digital infrastructure.

Globally, Huawei has collaborated with over 120 countries and regions, contributing to the digital transformation of more than 700 cities. Their projects include smart classrooms in Serbia and an intelligent teaching ecosystem at Ningxia University, China, which integrates sophisticated teaching, learning, evaluation, and management systems. In Shenzhen’s Longgang District, Huawei developed a medical imaging platform that connects data across 12 hospitals, and in Shanghai’s Ruijin Hospital, they established a digital pathology department that improves data retrieval speed considerably.

As more than 170 countries adopt national digital strategies and over 50 develop AI strategies, investments in ICT are shown to significantly boost GDP. Huawei’s efforts also extend to Ghana, where their Inclusive Connectivity solution has provided network coverage for 3.5 million rural inhabitants, enabling remote learning and telemedicine.

Huawei’s initiatives highlight their role in driving digital transformation, aiming to make public services more inclusive, efficient, and people-centric worldwide.
