India is set to host the ‘Global IndiaAI Summit 2024’ in New Delhi on July 3-4, organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This event aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among international AI experts across various sectors including science, industry, civil society, governments, international organizations, and academia.

The summit underscores India’s commitment to ethical and inclusive AI development and its role as the lead chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). Participants will discuss essential AI issues, share insights, and address challenges within the AI ecosystem.

At the heart of the summit is the IndiaAI Mission, designed to promote AI innovation across the country. This initiative focuses on democratizing access to computing resources, enhancing data quality, developing indigenous AI capabilities, attracting top AI talent, promoting industry collaboration, providing funding for startups, ensuring the societal impact of AI projects, and advocating for ethical AI practices. The mission is built on seven key pillars, each targeting a crucial aspect of AI development and deployment.

  1. IndiaAI Compute Capacity: Establishing a scalable AI computing ecosystem with over 10,000 GPUs via public-private partnerships, including an AI marketplace offering AI services and pre-trained models.

  2. IndiaAI Innovation Centre: Developing and deploying large multimodal models (LMMs) and domain-specific foundational models tailored to India’s diverse industries.

  3. IndiaAI Datasets Platform: Streamlining access to high-quality non-personal datasets through a unified platform to support startups and researchers.

  4. IndiaAI Application Development Initiative: Promoting AI applications across critical sectors by addressing problem statements from various government bodies to create impactful AI solutions for large-scale socio-economic transformation.

  5. IndiaAI FutureSkills: Enhancing access to AI education by increasing the availability of AI courses at different academic levels and establishing Data and AI Labs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

  6. IndiaAI Startup Financing: Supporting deep-tech AI startups by providing streamlined access to funding and risk capital, nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of AI startups.

  7. Safe & Trusted AI: Promoting responsible AI development through ethical AI practices, including the development of indigenous tools and frameworks and establishing guidelines for transparency and trustworthiness.
