Microsoft unveiled the latest Copilot+ PCs at its developer conference, featuring AI tools powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o technology for real-time translations and document retrieval. The company aims to revitalise the PC market with AI advancements amid growing concerns over data privacy and AI safety.
Microsoft unveiled new AI-integrated computers at its annual developer conference in Redmond, Washington. The event, led by CEO Satya Nadella, introduced the Copilot+ PCs, which include the Surface Pro tablet and Surface laptop. These devices are equipped with processors that perform AI tasks directly on the device without needing an internet connection.
The new lineup features AI tools powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o technology, enabling functionalities like real-time translations and a recall system for retrieving documents and images. Another feature, Team Copilot, assists in managing meetings by creating agendas and taking notes for the team.
These developments aim to rejuvenate the stagnant PC market as AI becomes increasingly integrated into daily life. Competitors like Dell and Lenovo have also launched AI-first PCs, and Apple is expected to announce similar innovations at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference.
Microsoft’s advancements come amid growing discussions on AI safety and data privacy. The new AI features will be available on premium models starting at $999, with rollout beginning June 18.
