A collaboration between OkCupid and Photoroom has led to the launch of ‘Ex-Terminator’, a new AI software that helps users remove unwanted faces from photos, responding to the desire of many young singles to erase their exes. Despite its popularity, opinions on the tool vary, with concerns raised about its emotional impact.

A new AI software called “Ex-Terminator,” developed through a collaboration between dating site OkCupid and photo editing software Photoroom, enables users to erase unwanted faces from photos. Launched in response to OkCupid’s research indicating that 54% of Gen Z and 50% of millennial singles wish to remove exes from their photos, this free tool allows users to upload and edit their pictures by simply dragging an erase cursor over the unwanted face. Despite its popularity, reactions to the tool are mixed, with some suggesting its use could be emotionally unsettling rather than cathartic.
