The letter advocates for a $48 million budget request essential for advancing AI research, standards, and testing through NIST’s U.S. AI Safety Institute.
The letter emphasizes NIST’s historical role in developing technical standards and highlights concerns over recent budget cuts that could hinder responsible AI development.
