Providence Health System enhances its partnership with Xsolis, extending AI solutions to more hospitals to improve operational efficiency and patient care.

Providence Expands AI-Driven Collaboration with Xsolis

FRANKLIN, Tenn., and RENTON, Wash. — Providence Health System has announced a significant expansion in its partnership with Xsolis, a health technology company specializing in AI-driven solutions. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the level of patient care by reducing administrative burdens on clinical staff.

The not-for-profit Catholic health system had previously deployed Xsolis’ AI solutions in eight Oregon hospitals in October 2023, which has since yielded impressive results. The integration focused on utilising data insights and predictive analytics to streamline the review processes and reduce manual work for clinical staff, ensuring appropriate and timely reimbursement.

Following the positive outcomes from the initial implementation phase, the partnership will now extend Xsolis’ technology to 28 more Providence hospitals across Oregon, Alaska, Washington, Montana, New Mexico, and Texas. This marked expansion aims to further broaden the scope of AI-driven healthcare solutions within Providence’s extensive network, underscoring its leadership in the effective use of advanced technology to improve healthcare operations.

During the first 8-month phase, the implementation brought notable benefits, including a 32% decrease in the length of stay for patients under observation, contributing to more timely patient discharges.

“Providence is dedicated to pioneering the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies to lessen the administrative load and empower our caregivers to provide top-tier, patient-centric care,” stated Adar Palis, Group Vice President of Clinical and Revenue Cycle Applications at Providence. “Expanding our collaboration with Xsolis not only streamlines crucial utilisation review processes but also sets a new standard in healthcare by leveraging AI to focus our valuable clinical resources on our core mission—caring for our patients and serving the communities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.”

Xsolis’ predictive AI capabilities, including its proprietary Care Level Score™, have been a pivotal part of this success. The Care Level Score offers an AI-powered analysis of medical necessity grounded in evidence-based medicine, bolstering accuracy with over 2.7 billion predictions since the company’s inception in 2013. Providence plans to utilise the platform’s shared access and real-time updates to enhance collaboration with networked health plans, aiming for better communication between health systems and insurers.

“Xsolis’ demonstrable returns and additional capabilities provide a bright future for how our continued partnership can help Providence serve our patient populations in new and innovative ways,” noted Melissa Damm, Chief Financial Officer of Providence’s central region. “In today’s resource-constrained environment, Xsolis’ source of truth for aligning on medical necessity decision-making and case management analytics has illuminated the hard-to-identify areas for improvement, strengthening our abilities to continue delivering high-quality care, regardless of how the industry will continue to evolve.”

Joan Butters, CEO and co-founder of Xsolis, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We’re thrilled to see the tangible benefits Providence has achieved so far. As one of the nation’s leading health systems, theirs is a compelling story about applying purpose-built AI solutions to elevate the work of clinical staff to focus on the most important tasks. By challenging the status quo and embracing AI-driven solutions, Providence has demonstrated how technology can be leveraged to improve operational efficiency, enhance care coordination, and ultimately the patient experience.”
