  • 59% of teachers report student usage of generative AI tools for school purposes.
  • 83% of teachers use generative AI tools like ChatGPT personally or professionally.
  • 80% of teachers have received formal training on AI policies, yet only 28% have guidance on handling suspected misuse such as plagiarism.
  • 68% of teachers regularly use AI content detection tools, which have efficacy issues and disproportionately affect students protected by civil rights laws.
  • 64% of teachers noted an increase in disciplinary actions against students for AI use, up 16 percentage points from the previous year.
  • 52% of teachers express increased distrust in student work authenticity, a higher sentiment in schools banning AI.

These findings point to a need for enhanced training and clearer guidelines for educators.
