The lawsuit, seeking class action status, was filed on May 14, 2024, in the Southern District Court of New York.
Lehrman claims he provided voice samples in 2020 for what he thought was a one-time academic project, only to later find his voice used in YouTube videos and podcasts he never recorded. Sage had a similar experience after a 2019 job for “test scripts for radio ads.”
Lehrman and Sage argue that Lovo employees misrepresented their intentions, using the voice samples to create and market AI-generated voices. They seek over $5 million in damages and an injunction to stop the alleged misuse. Lovo could not be reached for comment.
