Bryan Lourd, the renowned super-agent and CEO of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), navigates challenges in the entertainment industry as he represents top actors, tackles industry strikes, and embraces technological advancements.

Hollywood super-agent Bryan Lourd, 63, CEO of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), is renowned for representing high-profile actors like George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Brad Pitt, and Charlize Theron. Over 40 years, Lourd has maintained a Hollywood tradition of client lunches, first honed during his early career at the William Morris group.

Lourd’s journey from small-town Louisiana to becoming one of Hollywood’s most powerful figures includes a past relationship with actress Carrie Fisher, with whom he has a daughter. His portfolio extends beyond talent representation to strategic advising for major entertainment group executives.

In 2023, Lourd’s CAA clients faced a six-month hiatus due to industry strikes, which, combined with COVID-19 impacts and advancements in streaming and AI technology, have presented ongoing challenges. In September 2023, Artémis, led by François-Henri Pinault, acquired a major stake in CAA.

Recently, Lourd supported Scarlett Johansson in a dispute with Sam Altman of OpenAI, alleging the unapproved use of her voice for ChatGPT. Despite professional tensions, Lourd maintains a positive outlook on technological disruptions, asserting Hollywood’s resilience and adaptability.
