Dentistry. One introduces SmileScan, an AI-driven tool that allows users to monitor their oral health via smartphone, offering real-time insights and promoting proactive dental care.

Dentistry. One Unveils Innovative SmileScan AI Tool for Oral Health Monitoring

Dentistry. One has introduced an innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool, SmileScan, designed to help users monitor their oral health using just a smartphone. This forward-thinking technology aims to bridge the gap between dental appointments by providing real-time insights into one’s dental condition.

SmileScan, developed in collaboration with Toothlens, Inc., works by allowing users to capture five images of their teeth and mouth using their smartphone camera. These images are then analysed by the AI to generate a comprehensive report. This report offers a score that highlights key areas in the mouth requiring attention, effectively enabling individuals to prioritise their oral health concerns.

Following the initial scan, users can opt for a virtual consultation with a certified dentist from Dentistry.One. This personal consultation ensures that users receive tailored advice based on their specific dental health needs.

Sharity Ludwig, the Senior Director of Clinical Operations at Dentistry. One, emphasised the tool’s user-friendly design and its potential impact on proactive dental care. “SmileScan is a breakthrough in empowering individuals to take control of their oral health,” Ludwig stated. “Using SmileScan, users can get instant, easy-to-understand insights about their dental health, so they can check in on their oral health without having to wait until their next dental appointment.”

Brant Herman, Founder and CEO of MouthWatch, underscored the broader significance of the tool for overall health management. “SmileScan represents more than just a convenience – it’s a tool that makes dental insights and attention to oral health easier and more convenient for everyone,” Herman noted. He added, “We see it as a stepping stone that reduces barriers and gets people excited about staying healthy and engaged with their home care and regular preventive dental visits. By empowering individuals with AI-driven insights and connecting them to care when needed, we’re fostering a proactive approach to better oral health.”

The implementation of SmileScan is particularly crucial for individuals managing health conditions where oral health is intrinsically linked to overall well-being, such as diabetes, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders.

With this advancement, Dentistry. One and Toothlens, Inc. are positioning SmileScan as a pivotal tool in modern dental care, promoting easy access to vital dental insights and fostering a proactive approach to oral health maintenance.
